  Overhaul V2
Posted by: Nuclear_Suspect - 07-21-2010 04:57 PM - Replies (4)

And we're back from behind the creaking machinery yet again.

This time we've cleaned up the mapcycle quite a bit, cleaned out the plugins which werent used, updated the MOTD (Hopefully, never really wrote one before) cleaned up the customvotes, added 13 maps to a seperate mapcycle which donators and above can test with the 'Test map X?' vote. (Like the previous test runs upgrades are disabled)
Also adjusted the rules a little to make them more clear and changed one of the adverts.

zm_basin / zm_uphill_struggle will return when we have them fixed, as they are now they crash if certain triggers are used.

Sadly the idea about custom models for special groups is on hold for now, the plugin maker have not responded and SourceBans (Which we obviously use) do not support it at the moment but will some time in the future.

Sly and Kase have also been stripped of their training wheels and are full fledged admins... may god have mercy on us all.

ps. if we have had some error in judgement on some map which was removed, make a proper post about it in the 'maps' section, not here! I'll probe the donators / admins for feedback about the testmaps in case any of them should be moved to the proper mapcycle and have upgrades enabled.

Have fun and behave

  Server stuff again

We're running low on donations (under $40 remaining), so I'm making a few changes. I'm scrapping the VPS plan in the last news post, instead I'm getting a cheaper web host. If we haven't got any new donations by July 18th, I'm shutting down ZM #2, so we can keep #1 for a bit longer at least.
Do note that even if we do run out of money, I'll be paying for the website from my own pocket, so no worries.

  New host!

We're switching webhost to our own VPS hosted at fanatical[vps]. It's going to use the domain http://www.kotsc.net, which we now own. Our own domain gives us all sorta fun benefits, such as real addresses for our servers instead of IPs.

zm1.kotsc.net:27019
zm2.kotsc.net:27019

Those are real and work properly.

First thing I'm moving to the new server are our SourceMod databases, since our current host doesn't apparently like them. Forums will be moved later, they're not in a hurry.

Woo boy have we been busy behind the scenes.

As you've most likely noticed, we have 4 of the custom models back and some of the testmaps have been moved to the regular cycle.

What some might also know is that a few plugins have been updated and some rather nifty ones have been added.

Admins can now award people with a hook (make a bind for +hook) to pull themselves up, a rope (make a bind for +rope) so they can swing in a rope.

Along with this we got the tripmine plugin updated and all spiffy, "Why does this concern us?" I hear you ask? Because the new version come with a lovely custom flag function, so if a donator wants to run their own tripmine event, then it can easily be done.

And now for the sexeh bit, Super Admins can now define 'areas' which are off-limits on maps, so the so called 'safespots' will have a deadly effect, so far I've only added 2 zones on zm_uphill_struggle (The ledge and on top of the doors) obviously a lot of zones will have to be added at the different maps, but we'll get there.

Another thing which MIGHT be in the works (note: MIGHT BE! AS IN NOT CERTAIN!) is a slight re-make of our current model menu, I've wrote the creator of our current plugin about some changes, IF theese changes can be made it will open up a lot of options, for example the sought after 'Member' model (Available only to Knights and Adv. Members)

And obviously we've also gotta say welcome to the new admin-pupils: Sly and Kase, try not to drive them insane.

/EDIT

For the sake of testing and showing off some of the new features, I've added a new customvote called "Give the ZM 5 mines" its still a work in progress, so when people ask how to use mines I'm quite sure I'll see "Make a bind for sm_tripmine, it'll only work when you're ZM" and not odd stuff about magik... with a K

Good day gents.

So we reached 300 bans when Retro banned Sly and we've been adding stuff to the servers.

Yes, I said servers, plural, as in more than one.
I spent well over 5 hour uploading some 1800+ files to ZM#2 and it should be good to go (Probably some screws left over somewhere, but we'll put em back when we find out whats missing)

Also updated zm_skytrain to the 'fixed' version and added 'zm_failtrain' to the mapcycle.

Donators and above will also find a new vote called "Test map X" where we have 5 new maps that need some testing, upgrades for them have been turned off in case some major glitch is found and its abuse heaven.

Also a lot of people are finished (Or nearly finished) with exams so hopefully there'll be some more admins/mods around on the servers and forum, however this also means that there'll be more eyes on the players, even if they are members or donators and they are still not above the basic rules we agreed on.
