A lot has happened lately. I'll start from the most important.

Sugar's dedicated server is going down, and our servers with it. She couldn't afford paying for it as she got no income from her TF2 servers. It's still unclear when the dedi goes down, it's either tomorrow (14th) which would be odd, as we paid for one more month, or in one month. I prepared for the worst case and already rented two ZM servers. No worries about our financial situation, we still have plenty of money (>$100) even after paying for the servers.

Another, major event is me contacting two (third one soon) game server providers, looking for a sponsor. The companies are XenonServers, XTR Gaming (cannot contact, forums under maintenance) and PlugPayPlay. So far only one, PlugPayPlay, has expressed interest in the issue. I'll update as it develops. If it goes as I've hoped, we could get ourselves a dedicated server.

Third, not that major thing. I've started developing a whole server manager plugin set for (surprise!) managing our servers. It will include stuff like forum integration, automatic donation manager, whole new upgrade plugin (points won't be lost), equipment manager (hats and pants planned so far) and other fancy stuff. I'll update as it gets more ready.

  ZM server overhaul
Posted by: Nuclear_Suspect - 02-06-2010 06:12 PM - Replies (43)

Dear Knights, Donators, users and guests.

As always i love trying to push the limits of our ZM servers, trying to be more than "just an avarage ZM server"

Obviously thats a lot of work and a lot of decisions, so I'd like to hear your thoughts on a couple of subjects. (I've made a rather large 'to do' list and would like some input)

MAPLIST:
I've been digging around for some new maps and found a few, but theres also a few maps on our current cycle which are ever really used or just plain bad, (zm_fort_howard springs to mind) so which maps would you like to have removed/added and why?

RE-WORK FUN-MAP OPTION:
Currently we have votes which Donators/Adv. Members/Admins can use to start a "Fun Map" but it does not seem optimal, so... what to do? Keep it as it is? Manually change the mapcycle on weekends like we used to? Or do you have some other idea?

REWARD FOR HARDER/LONGER MAPS:
As some might know, we can make custom configs for maps (Which is how funmaps have no upgrades and some maps have noblock) and the idea is that we'd like to increase the points won on harder/longer maps to 2 instead of 1, just a handful of maps really, so which maps do you think are REALLY hard or take quite a while (and skill) to win?

EVENT VOTE OPTIONS:
Currently we only have 1 'event vote' which is the tripmine vote admins can start, I'd like to make more like these but could use some ideas, so do you have any ideas with the current plugins? Or have you found some plugin we could use for events?

ZM HUGE ARSE FAQ:
I'll be making a huge FAQ since all our tidbits on "how to" and so on seem a bit scattered around the forum, if you have anything you'd like to add feel free to drop a line or 2.

So, if you have any feedback just use the code and write what you have to say:

Code:
Maplist feedback:
Fun-map feedback:
Reward feedback:
Event feedback:
FAQ feedback:

I'll also be working on making sure that server #1 and #2 are identical (Some votes are missing on #1 and there might be some map differences)
I'll also be looking at versions of the maps to see if i can update maps along with plugin versions.

Information To the fine people that give us money
Posted by: Alfie - 01-23-2010 01:12 AM - Replies (10)

These are a bunch of guidelines for zGrabber, Death sent me the base for this, I fiddled with it and made it pretty :3

THE NUMBER ONE GOLDEN RULE FOR ZGRABBER

DO NOT kill people with the zGrabber!

Big Ones
  1. NEVER EVER, use the zGrabber as ZM to help yourself
  2. Refrain from picking up a props larger than a couch
  3. If you kill a player, apologise and either ask an admin to respawn them or give them 2-3 points
  4. Drop ALL props before you look around, this is to avoid people near you getting hit with a home-made golf club
  5. Warn people in the vicinity before moving a prop, just so they know what's going on
  6. Walk backwards with biggish props, it'll glitch with you and more than likely kill you
  7. You can do a fun event with a custom vote or an admin's approval on weekends, like on basin with the WAGON OF DOOOM

Lickle Ones
  1. Refrain from using the zGrabber in spectate, grabbing lost, required items in spec is fine though
  2. Picking up blockers is alright, report them to an admin if they're doing intentionally
  3. Do not pick up props from a distance, someone could be trotting along but then be sideswiped by a prop you're grabbing
